چکیده

We report a dual-band-swept, Fourier domain mode locking (FDML) laser with sweeping rate of 97.6 kHz. The laser uses a custom-designed dual-channel driver to achieve synchronization between two tunable filters. It is the first time to achieve simultaneous dual-band FDML laser. © 2012 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (300.6360)Spectroscopy, laser; (140.4050) Mode-locked lasers

Long distance fiber Bragg grating strain sensor interrogation using high speed Raman-based Fourier domain mode-locked fiber laser with recycled residual Raman pump

We propose a novel fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor interrogation system using a Raman-based Fourier domain mode locking (FDML) fiber laser for a high speed and a long distance measurement. To improve transmission efficiency of the sensing probe signal over a long distance of 20-km, the residual pump powers are recycled. The external strain change can be measured by detecting the tine interval ...

Simultaneous dual-band optical coherence tomography for endoscopic applications.

Dual-band optical coherence tomography (OCT) can greatly enhance the imaging contrast with potential applications in functional (spectroscopic) analysis. A new simultaneous dual-band Fourier domain mode-locked swept laser configuration for dual-band OCT is reported. It was based on a custom-designed dual-channel driver to synchronize two different wavelength bands at 1310 and 1550 nm, respectiv...

Characterization of FBG sensor interrogation based on a FDML wavelength swept laser.

In this study, we develop an ultra-fast fiber Bragg grating sensor system that is based on the Fourier domain mode-locked (FDML) swept laser. A FDML wavelength swept laser has many advantages compared to the conventional wavelength swept laser source, such as high-speed interrogation, narrow spectral sensitivity, and high phase stability. The newly developed FDML wavelength swept laser shows a ...

Picosecond pulses from wavelength-swept continuous-wave Fourier domain mode-locked lasers.

Ultrafast lasers have a crucial function in many fields of science; however, up to now, high-energy pulses directly from compact, efficient and low-power semiconductor lasers are not available. Therefore, we introduce a new approach based on temporal compression of the continuous-wave, wavelength-swept output of Fourier domain mode-locked lasers, where a narrowband optical filter is tuned synch...

Long distance fiber Bragg grating strain sensor interrogation using a high speed Raman-based Fourier domain mode-locked fiber laser with recycled residual Raman pump.

We propose a novel fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor interrogation using a Raman-based Fourier-domain mode locking (FDML) fiber laser for a high speed and long distance measurement. A residual Raman pump after the generation of the Raman-based FDML fiber laser is recycled for secondary signal amplification in a 2-m erbium-doped fiber (EDF) to further enhance the output power. The chromatic dispe...
